Unbeknownst to some, one of the catalysts of America finally declaring its independence from Great Britain was a work published in January of 1776 by Thomas Paine aptly titled, “Common Sense”. This book is recorded to have sold more than 500,000 copies in just a few months. By late March of 1776, “Common Sense” drove support for independence through the colonies. Soon a five-man committee was assigned to draft a declaration. A declaration we now know as “The Declaration of Independence.”
Although hundreds of years later, today America finds itself on yet another Independence Day needing desperately to declare its freedom. Only now, it’s from the shackles of poverty, racism, bigotry, fear, brutality and, hate. In short, injustices of our own doing.
A simple statement. A determined man.
This time the statement is We Can Do Better and the determined man is me, Adam Hollier, your candidate for Michigan State Senate, District 2.
I need your help to get my message of Independence out to the District.
- No longer will they have to settle for the status quo.
- No longer will they need to settle for candidates who make empty promises.
- No longer will they need to choose people that they know lack integrity.
- No longer will the needs of the district be ignored in favor of self-promotion.
We can do better.
On behalf of myself, my wife Krystle and our daughter, LillyJo, Happy Independence Day.
